Blood in - Blood out Many gangs, both street gangs and prison gangs, have established horrific guidelines for both joining the gang, or for leaving the gang. The most definitive is the philosophy of "Blood in - Blood out." This philosophy means that the only way a person can join the gang is to shed the blood of someone else. A person becomes a target and the prospective gang members is usually ordered to kill the person. The target may be another gang member, a police or corrections officer, or an innocent person on the street. Membership in some gangs, particularly prison gangs, is for life - the only way out is death.Gangs have adopted this philosophy for one reason - to make sure that informants or undercover officers do not attempt to infiltrate the ranks. The gangs know that an officer will not kill someone just to get on the inside. The following series of videos were originally presented on the History Channel as a complete television program.
